Combined training is an equestrian competition that includes two phases:

  1. Dressage – riders perform a set flatwork test judged on accuracy, control, and the horse’s way of going.
  2. Showjumping – riders complete a jumping course against the clock with penalties for faults such as knockdowns or refusals.

It combines the precision of dressage with the excitement of jumping and is often used as an introduction to eventing.
